Q- How can I see your upcoming classes?

Q- I’m not sure which class I should take?

A- We suggest that you speak to your employer to discuss what your specific requirements are. You can take a look at our course descriptions to help you determine which class is right for you. Still need help? Call us 360-737-8910 and we’ll be happy to assist you.

Q- How do I sign up for a class?

A- We do require pre-registration in order to reserve your space in the class. Visit our course calendar and see which class and time is right for you, then contact us M-F 8 am to 5 pm or Saturday 10 am to 3 pm 360-737-8910 to sign up. You can also come to our facility during the same hours and sign up in person. Payment is required at the time of registration. You can view our course registration form and course policies.

Q- Is there anything I can study or review prior to class?

A- We now teach the 2010 CPR Guidelines. We have established a Learning Center with CPR videos that you are free to review prior to class. Don’t worry, there is nothing you need to do prior to class. We will provide you all the information at the time of the class.

Q- We need a custom training class that not only covers CPR and First Aid but some other safety training topics. Can you provide this?

A- Yes, Northwest Health and Safety Inc can customize and design your training class to meet your specific needs. Upon completion you would receive course completion certificates that notes the additional training provided. Please call for a quote on custom training. 360-737-8910.

Q- We have a large company that we need training at various locations throughout Washington and Oregon. Is this something you can provide?

A- We can provide all of your training throughout Washington and Oregon. Contact our Training Coordinator for more details.

Q- What is the requirement in Washington for first aid training?

A- Washington requirements are somewhat vague in regards to who is required to have first aid training. For specific requirements regarding how the first aid requirement applies to your business or workplace we suggest contacting WISHA directly at 1-800-423-7233.

WAC 296-800-15005 Make sure that first-aid trained personnel are available to provide quick and effective first aid. You must: Comply with the first-aid training requirements of 29 CFR 1910.151(b) which states:

“In the absence of an infirmary, clinic, or hospital in near proximity to the workplace, which is used for the treatment of all injured employees, a person or persons shall be adequately trained to render first-aid.”

For the construction industry, the first aid requirement is a little more specific.

WAC 296-155-120 First-aid training and certification.

This section is designed to assure that all employees in this state are afforded quick and effective first-aid attention in the event of an on the job injury. To achieve this purpose the presence of personnel trained in first-aid procedures at or near those places where employees are working is required. Compliance with the provisions of this section may require the presence of more than one first-aid trained person.

(1) Each employer must have available at all worksites, where a crew is present, a person or persons holding a valid first-aid certificate.

(2) All crew leaders, supervisors or persons in direct charge of one or more employees must have a valid first-aid certificate.

(3) For the purposes of this section, a crew means a group of two or more employees working at any worksite.

Note: The requirement that all crew leaders, supervisors or person in direct charge of one or more employees (subsection (3) of this section) applies even if other first-aid trained person(s) are available. In emergencies, crew leaders will be permitted to work up to thirty days without having the required certificate, providing an employee in the crew or another crew leaders in the immediate work area has the necessary certificate.

Q- We bought an AED online and need someone to come out and show us how to use it and maintain it?

A- No problem. This is something we do a lot. We can provide an full CPR and AED training to a simple in-service to familiarize you with your new life saving device. We are very familiar with all AED’s and are an authorized distributor for all of the major AED brands. Contact us by phone or email for more details.

Q- Can Northwest Health and Safety Inc. help me with First Aid products?

A- Yes we can. Northwest Health and Safety Inc. is one of the largest regional distributors of First Aid products. We can help you in the selection of your first aid products and provide you discounted pricing on all of your first aid and emergency preparedness supplies.  You can also visit our retail store in Vancouver, Washington where you will find the areas largest selection of First Aid supplies and CPR barriers. Q- Who is the American Safety & Health Institute (ASHI)?

A- ASHI is an professional association of more than 35,000 professional safety and health educators providing nationally recognized training programs through approximately 5,500 approved Training Centers across the United States and in over 20 foreign countries. Northwest Health and Safety Inc. has been an affiliated ASHI Training center for the past 12 years.

Q- Have ASHI programs been externally reviewed, accepted, approved, or accredited?

A- Yes. ASHI works on a regular and ongoing basis with hundreds of federal and state authorities to ensure regulatory compliance. ASHI programs have been reviewed, accepted, approved or have satisfied the requirements of numerous state and federal agencies, including the Department of Labor (OSHA) and the Department of Homeland Security (USCG). Additionally, both CPRPro™ and ASHI ACLS™, our professional level resuscitation courses, have been nationally accredited by the Continuing Education Coordinating Board for Emergency Medical Services (CECBEMS).

Q- How long are the certification cards good for?

A- Generally CPR and First Aid Cards are good for 2 years. However your employer, licensing or certification may require training or re-certification more frequently.

Q- I took a class with Northwest Health and Safety Inc and lost my card. Can I get a replacement card?

A- Yes, just call us at 360-737-8910 and we can issue you a digital replacement card. There is a $5 fee for each replacement card.

Q- I have a large group of people that need training. Are there any discounts for large groups?

Q- I have a physical impairment that makes training difficult for me to participate in the hands on portion. Can I still take the class?

A- Yes, we will work with you to make sure you are comfortable and safe throughout the course. Discuss your specific limitations with the instructor at the time of class, so that we can make modifications or adjustments for you.
